A Capability Scotland School

Admissions

Whilst we welcome privately funded learners, most pupils who attend Stanmore House are funded by their Local Authority and as a result, they are the primary decision-makers on whether a learner is eligible to attend Stanmore House.

There is a five-step admissions process to Stanmore House, this begins with your council reviewing whether we can support a learner, and the rationale as to why the learner should attend Stanmore House rather than their local authority school.

Decision

Council review the evidence and rationale behind attending Stanmore House and make a decision on whether to proceed with the placement.

Visit

We’ll welcome you for a visit to see if our school suits you, exploring our facilities together.

Assessment

Once suitability is agreed, our team will carry out a robust assessment of the young person and provide an Assessment Report detailing how we will meet your education and therapy needs.

Placing Request

You’ll complete a Placing Request with your Local Authority, our Assessment Report will provide them with necessary information on suitability, your Educational Psychologist is well placed to help you.

Outcome

The Local Authority will then consider your placing request. If accepted, the young person would then join Stanmore House School. If not, you can appeal their decision, which may result in a Placing Request Tribunal.
